Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
The Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
The angel said to [Mary], "Do not be afraid, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" — which means, "God with us."

In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
