Gedanken zum Vers des Tages
Uns Menschen ist kein anderer Name gegeben, durch den wir gerettet werden können (Apg. 4,12). Wir sollten uns vor den Menschen zu Jesus bekennen, denn wenn wir das tun, wissen wir, dass auch er sich zu uns vor dem Vater im Himmel bekennen wird. Jesus Christus ist Gottes Sohn, unser Heiland und Herr. Vielleicht erkennen wir nicht die volle theologische Schwere, die in diesen Worten enthalten ist —- genau wie Petrus sie nicht verstand, als er sich zu Jesus als dem Christus bekannte -, dennoch können wir uns vornehmen, ihn zu erkennen und ihm nachzufolgen, bis wir ihn noch besser verstehen. Jesus bittet uns, unsere Herzen für seine Herrschaft zu öffnen und die Reise zu beginnen, um ihn vollkommener erkennen und erfahren zu können.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
There is no other name under heaven that can save us other than Jesus (Acts 4:12). He is the way, the truth, and the life — the only way to the Father (John 14:6). We are to confess Jesus before people, knowing that when we do, we can be sure he will confess us before the Father and his angels in heaven (Matthew 10:32-33). Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior and Lord. We may not know all the theological gravity of those words — after all, Peter didn't when he confessed Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God — but we can commit to knowing Jesus and following him until we know more of what those words mean. Jesus asks us to open our hearts to his lordship and begin the journey toward fuller knowledge and experience of him as the Holy Spirit informs us (1 Corinthians 2:9-10, 14-15) and conforms us to Christlikeness (2 Corinthians 3:18)!
Mein Gebet
Lebendiger Gott und heiliger Vater, ich glaube, dass du Jesus als deinen Sohn gesandt hast, um mich zu retten. Ich gestehe dir, dass ich Jesus als den Herrn meines Lebens möchte, weil ich an ihn glaube als deinen Sohn und meinen Heiland. Durch deinen Sohn, den in der Schrift verheißenen Christus und im Namen Jesu bete ich. Amen.
My Prayer...
Living God and Holy Father, I believe you sent Jesus, your Son, Immanuel, God in human flesh, to save me. I confess to you that I want Jesus to be my Lord, and Lord of all of my life because I believe him to be your Son and Messiah, my Savior. It is through this Jesus, your Son, the Christ you promised to send in the Scriptures, that I pray. Amen.
