Gedanken zum Vers des Tages
Die Finsternis ist mehr als ein Symbol. Sie ist eine durchdringende Lebensweise und Weltanschauung. Finsternis ist ein Ort der Verschleierung, der Bosheit und Kriminalität, der Diebe, der Sünde und des Todes. Jesus nachzufolgen bedeutet, ihm unsere Herzen zu bringen und ihm zu erlauben, unsere plagende innere Dunkelheit zu vertreiben, damit wir die Finsternis in der Welt nicht fürchten müssen. Auf diese Weise schenkt uns Jesus Licht, ein Licht das mehr bewirkt, als einen dunklen Raum mit Licht zu füllen. Es erleuchtet unsere Herzen.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Darkness is more than a symbol; it is a pervasive way of living and viewing the world. Darkness is the place of deception, evil, crime, predators, sin, and death. To follow Jesus means each of us brings our heart to him and lets him cast out the darkness that plagues us inside, so we don't have to fear the darkness outside. In this way, Jesus gives us light that is so much more than just a light that illuminates a dark room. He is the true light, the light of life that the darkness cannot defeat (John 1:4, 9). And this light now shines in us and makes us vessels of grace that share that light with those trapped in darkness (2 Corinthians 4:6-7; Matthew 5:14-16).
Mein Gebet
Heiliger Gott, der du im herrlichen und unauslöschlichen Licht wohnst, ich preise dich dafür, dass du Jesus sandtest, um mich von dunklen Ängsten zu befreien, die mich so leicht umschließen. Ich bete um Stärke und Mut, nicht nur, um im Licht zu wohnen, sondern auch um anderen den Weg ins Licht zu zeigen. Im Namen Jesu bete ich. Amen.
My Prayer...
Holy God, who lives in glorious and irrepressible light, I praise you for sending Jesus to cast away the dark fears that so easily envelop me. I pray for strength and courage to not only live in the light, but to show others the way to Jesus, the light of life. In his name I pray. Amen.
