오늘의 묵상
나사렛의 목공방이나 가버나움 근처의 갈릴리해변을 거니시는 예수님과 동시대 사람이었다면, 그분을 보고 "저기 하나님이 걸어가신다"라고 말할 수도 있었겠지요. 그 말이 옳습니다. 예수님에 관한 놀라운 진실은, 우리들 가운데에 거하셨던 하나님이시라는 것입니다. 마태는 그분에 대해 임마누엘이라고 불렀는데, "하나님께서 우리와 함께 계신다"라는 뜻이었습니다. 사도 바울은 모든 사물 및 모든 사람보다도 탁월하신 예수님을 묘사하기 위해 최상급 형용사를 거의 다 사용할 정도였습니다. 그분은 사람의 얼굴을 지니신 하나님이십니다. 그분은 통치자이시며, 초월자이시며, 모든 피조물을 다스리시는 분이십니다. 그분은 또한 우리의 구원자이시며 우리를 위한 희생제물이십니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
If we had been alive when Jesus worked in the carpentry shop in Nazareth or walked along the Sea of Galilee near Capernaum, we could have seen him and said, "There goes God." Our statement would have been correct. The incredible reality of Jesus is that he was God among us. Matthew calls him Immanuel, "God with us" (Matthew 1:23). In Colossians 1, Paul pours out every superlative he can use to describe Jesus' preeminence over everything and everyone. He is God with a human face. He is the ruler, the transcendent one, who reigns above all creation. Our universe exists and is held together by Jesus, which makes his coming to earth and being our Savior through his sacrifice breathtaking!
내 기도
전능하신 하나님, 왜 그토록 우리를 사랑하셨는지, 저는 이해할 수가 없습니다. 우리는 주님을 거절했고, 퇴짜를 놓았고, 무시했고, 신성모독했고, 우리 삶의 가장자리에 주님을 몰아넣으려고 했습니다. 하지만 주님께서는 곤경에 처한 우리들의 외침을 들으시고, 우리 자신으로부터 우리를 구해주시려 매번 여기 계셨습니다. 아버지, 제가 아버지를 더 존경하지 않는 것을 용서해 주시옵소서. 예수님의 위대하심을 알아차리지도 못하고 저를 위해 자신을 희생해야 했던 그분의 전적인 겸손을 못 알아본 저를 용서하시옵소서. 하지만 아버지, 감사드립니다! 오래 참으시며, 희생하시며, 아픔을 오래 견디셨으니, 예수님의 이름으로 감사 기도를 올립니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Almighty God, I can't comprehend why you would love us so much. As Your people, we have rejected, spurned, ignored, blasphemed, and sought to place you on the periphery of our lives. Yet time and again, you are there to hear our cries and save us from ourselves. Forgive me, Father, for not reverencing you more. Forgive me for not recognizing the greatness of Jesus and the utter humility it took for him to sacrifice himself for me. Father, thank you! Thank you for being patient, sacrificial, and long-suffering. I praise you, dear Father, in Jesus' name. Amen.
