오늘의 묵상

하나님의 엄청난 위대하심에 대해 우리가 인식하려고 아무리 열심히 노력한다해도, 그분은 여전히 하나님이시고 우리는 아닙니다. 지식과 이해력이라는 면에서 하나님과 같이 되보려 했던 것, 바로 그것이 처음이나 지금이나 죄의 본질이라는 것을 결코 잊어서는 안됩니다. 우리는 하나님을 알아야 하지만, 그분에 대해서 모든 것을 완전히 아는 것은 전혀 가능하지 않습니다. 우리는 그분의 성품을 입어야 하지만, 그분의 위엄, 의로우심, 거룩하심을 우리의 것으로 만들어버릴 수는 없습니다. 그래서 흥분되기도 하지만 좌절스럽기도 합니다. 하지만, 약속의 때가 이르면 우리들이 하나님과 같이 변화되어 그분의 참모습 그대로를 보게 될 것이라고(요일 3:1-3) 하였으며 우리를 환히 아시는 것처럼 우리도 그분을 온전히 알게 될 것이라고 하셨습니다. (고전 13:11-12)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

No matter how hard we try to perceive the awesomeness of God, he is still God, and we are not. We must forever remember that the original, and still primary, sin was seeking to become equal to God. We are to know God, and we should seek to know about God, but we can never fully know everything about him or become equal with him. Trying to become equal to God and losing our sense of reverence and awe for God are at the heart of all sin. While we should seek to put on God's righteous character, gracious compassion, and faithful lovingkindness, in humility, we recognize that we cannot begin to approach his majesty, righteousness, wisdom, or holiness on our own. When we have done our best to describe and praise our glorious God, what Job said centuries ago is true:

"And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?” (Job 26:14)


However, by God's grace, the promise remains that one day we will be like him and see him as he is (1 John 3:1-3) and will know him fully even as we are fully known (1 Corinthians 13:11-12). We wait in eager expectation of that day!

다정한 목자이신 주님, 제가 주님의 거룩하고 초월적인 성품에 대해 온전히 이해하거나 감사하지 못할 때에도 인내해주셔서 감사드립니다. 예수님을 보내셔서 주님을 더 잘 알게 하시고 제 자신보다도 저를 잘 아신다는 것을 신뢰하게 도우셨으니 감사드립니다. 예수님께서 다시 오셔서 본향으로 저를 데려가실 그날에 주님의 얼굴을 마주 보게 될 것을 기다립니다. 그날이 올 때까지, 제가 주님 사랑하는 것을 알고 계시기 원합니다. 예수님의 이름으로 감사와 찬양을 올려드립니다. 아멘.

My Prayer...

Tender Shepherd, thank you for your patience with me. I cannot fully understand or appreciate your holy, transcendent character and glorious nature. Thank you for sending Jesus so I can know you better and trust you to know me more than I know myself. I look forward to seeing you face-to-face when Jesus comes to bring me home to you. Until that day, please know I love you. In the name of Jesus, I humbly offer my thanks and praise. Amen.
