오늘의 묵상
하나님은 신실하시며 그의 언약은 사랑의 언약입니다. 마치 사랑하는 부모가 반항적인 아이를 다룰 때에... 그 아이가 받을 만한 자격보다도 더 잘해주는 것처럼, 그분께서도 우리가 마땅히 받을 만한 대접 이상으로 잘 대해 주시고 우리를 버리지 않으실 것입니다. 하지만 우리의 마음이 하나님을 하나님으로서 영광을 돌려야 할 것이며, 마치 부적 따위같이 여기거나 바쁜 일상 속에서 일주일에 한번씩 찾아오는 귀찮은 손님대접을 해서는 안됩니다. 무슨 일을 하든지 하나님 앞에서, 그리고 하나님을 위해 행한다는 것을 아는 상태여야 할 것입니다!
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
God is faithful to his promises and his people. He fulfilled every promise with a great "Amen!" in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 1:18-20). His covenant is far more than a set of agreements between a god and his people. God's covenant with us is a covenant of love. He will not forsake us or abandon us (Hebrews 13:5-6; Romans 8:32-39). He will treat us better than we deserve, just as a loving parent treats a rebellious child better than she or he deserves. We must tune our hearts to beat in honor of God as our God. We must not treat him as a good luck charm, a bellhop to bring us our every wish, or our weekly guest we occasionally invite to visit in the margins of our otherwise busy lives. What we do must be done with an awareness and intention that what we have done has been done before him, to honor him! As we do these things, God is faithful. He will uphold his covenant to love us, forgive us, restore us, and empower us until he brings us home to be with him.
내 기도
신실하신 하나님, 너무도 희생적이고 너무도 끈기있게 저를 사랑하셨으니 감사드립니다. 이스라엘 사람들에게 하나님의 약속들을 지키셨던 것에 감사드리고, 그 약속 그대로 예수님을 보내주셨으니 감사합니다. 예수님을 다시 보내주셔서 저를 아버지의 본향으로 이끄실 것이라는 약속을 신뢰합니다. 저와 제가 사랑하는 이들을 향한 아버지의 사랑의 언약에 감사드리는 표시로서, 오늘 제 행동과 말들을 받아주시옵소서. 아버지의 사랑의 선물이신 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Faithful God, thank you for loving me so sacrificially and steadfastly. Thank you for keeping your promises to the Israelites and for bringing Jesus just as you promised. I trust your promise to send him back to bring me home to you. Until then, please receive the deeds and words of this day as my thanks to you for your covenant of love with me and those who love Jesus. In the name of Jesus, your gift of love, I pray. Amen.
