오늘의 묵상

하늘 아래에 우리를 구원할 다른 이름은 (예수의 이름 외에) 없습니다.(사도행전 4:12) 우리는 사람들 앞에서 예수님을 믿는다고 고백해야 하며, 그렇게 할 때에 하늘에 계신 아버지 앞에서 예수님이 우리를 아신다고 고백하실 것이기 때문입니다. 예수 그리스도께서는 하나님의 아들이시며 우리의 구원자요 주님이십니다. 우리는 사실 이런 단어들의 배후에 있는 신학적인 무게를 잘 모릅니다만 — 예수님을 그리스도로 고백했던 당시에 베드로도 그랬습니다 — 우리가 더욱 잘 알게 될 때까지 예수님을 알고 따르겠다고 결단을 내릴 수는 있습니다. 예수님께서는 우리의 마음을 그분의 주님 되심에 활짝 열기를 원하시며, 그분에 대한 더 온전한 지식과 지혜로 나아가는 여행을 시작하기 원하십니다.

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

There is no other name under heaven that can save us other than Jesus (Acts 4:12). He is the way, the truth, and the life — the only way to the Father (John 14:6). We are to confess Jesus before people, knowing that when we do, we can be sure he will confess us before the Father and his angels in heaven (Matthew 10:32-33). Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior and Lord. We may not know all the theological gravity of those words — after all, Peter didn't when he confessed Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God — but we can commit to knowing Jesus and following him until we know more of what those words mean. Jesus asks us to open our hearts to his lordship and begin the journey toward fuller knowledge and experience of him as the Holy Spirit informs us (1 Corinthians 2:9-10, 14-15) and conforms us to Christlikeness (2 Corinthians 3:18)!

사랑하는 하나님, 거룩하신 아버지, 저를 구원하시기 위해 아버지께서 독생자이신 예수님을 보내셨음을 믿습니다. 예수님이 아버지의 아들이며 저를 구원하실 분이심을 알기에, 제 삶의 주인으로 그분을 모시고 싶습니다. 성경에 약속된 그리스도이신 독생자 예수님을 통하여, 또한 그 이름으로 기도를 드립니다. 아멘.

My Prayer...

Living God and Holy Father, I believe you sent Jesus, your Son, Immanuel, God in human flesh, to save me. I confess to you that I want Jesus to be my Lord, and Lord of all of my life because I believe him to be your Son and Messiah, my Savior. It is through this Jesus, your Son, the Christ you promised to send in the Scriptures, that I pray. Amen.
