오늘의 묵상
마지막 말씀입니다! 자녀가 대학에 들어가기 위해 떠날 때 부모가 해주는 마지막 말... 사랑하는 이가 죽어갈 때에 침대 곁에서 해줄 수 있는 마지막 말... 멀리 떨어진 곳으로 가기 전에 친구가 남긴 마지막 말... 이런 마지막 말을 할 때에는 주의깊게 하게 되는데, 매우 오래 기억에 남기 때문입니다. "가서 모든 민족을 제자 삼으라! 이것을 하기 위해서 (강조하시기를) 그들이 있는 곳에 도달해야 하고, 그들에게 세례를 주고, 그들을 가르쳐 내가 명령한 모든 것을 지키게 하여라."고 하셨습니다. 이 말씀은 이해하기 어렵지 않습니다. 이 마지막 명령들에 순종하기 위해 우리는 무엇을 하고 있나요?
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Last words matter! The last words of a parent to a child leaving for college... The last words of a loved one at the bedside of someone dying... The last words of a friend before moving to a distant place... Our last words are chosen with care because we know they leave a lasting impact on those who hear. They are important to us. We want those who hear them to know them and keep them. Jesus' last words are our authoritative marching orders for us as his disciples. These words are also very clear:
Make disciples of all peoples by...
- Going to all nations.
- Baptizing believers in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Teaching these new believers to obey what Jesus commanded.
This is the will of Jesus, our Lord. This is the will of our Lord, and as we obey his last words, he promises to be with us everywhere we go. We must not substitute easy and cheap replacements for Jesus' clear words of commission!

모든 민족의 소망 되신 아버지, 아버지의 은혜를 다른 이들과 나누려는 열정을 아버지의 영을 통해 제 안에 일으켜 주시옵소서. (제가 만들어놓은) 안전지대로부터 저를 끌어내셔서, 다른 이들이 아버지를 아는 것을 돕도록, 아버지의 힘있고 희생하시는 은혜 안으로 이끄시옵소서. 구원하시는 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Father, the one from whom all peoples derive their hope, please use your Spirit to rouse me to a passion for sharing your grace with others. Nudge me out of my safety zone. Move me through your empowering and sacrificial grace as you equip and lead me through the Holy Spirit. I want to help others come to know you and call on you as their Lord. By the power of your name, O Jesus, I ask this. Amen.
