오늘의 묵상
기독교인의 장례식에서 설교자들이 많이 낭독하는 부분은, "하늘에 너희가 있을 곳을 마련하러 간다"고 예수님께서 말씀하신 부분입니다. 예수님께서는 그 이후에 우리를 위해 다시 돌아오실 것이라고 하셨습니다. 하지만 몇 구절 뒤에 보면 오늘의 이 약속을 덧붙이십니다. 우리가 예수님께 다가와 거할 때, 예수님께서 우리에게 오셔서 우리 마음 속에 거하실 것이라고 말씀해주십니다. 여기서 한가지 필수적인 것은, 우리가 예수님의 말씀에 자발적으로 순종하려는 마음입니다. 이것은 (예수님과 우리 사이의) 어려운 약속같지는 않습니다. 그렇지요? 그러니 우리 삶의 모습 속에서 "순종"이라는 단어가 잊혀지게 내버려두지는 맙시다!
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
At many Christian funerals and memorials, the preacher emphasizes that Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us to join him in heaven, but will one day come back for us and bring us home with him (John 14:1-3). Just a few verses later, the Lord deepens his promise. He promises that if we love him and obey him, he will love us and reveal himself to us (John 14:21). On top of that, he and the Father will love us and make their home in us until we can go home to be with them (John 14:23). As we love God and obey Jesus' commandments, our relationship, closeness, and experience of God's presence as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, deepens because they live inside us — make their home with us. Obeying Jesus' teaching is our pathway to a closer walk with God!
내 기도
거룩하신 하나님, 예수님께서 이 땅에 오셔서 하나님의 뜻에 순종하신 것을 압니다. 제 순종이 하나님의 말씀에 대한 단순한 순종을 넘어서서, 하나님의 뜻에 따라 살고자 하는 간절한 소망이 되도록 제게 분별력을 주시옵소서. 하나님께서 저를 구하시려고 참으로 많은 일들을 행하셨기에, 하나님을 높이기를 제가 간절히 원합니다. 예수님의 이름으로 제가 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Holy God, I know Jesus came to earth and obeyed your will. Please bless me with the discernment I need to fully obey you. I desire that my obedience will not just be the strict obedience of your words, but a deep longing to live according to your will. I long to honor you because you have done so much to save me. Thank you. In Jesus' name I thank and praise you. Amen.
