오늘의 묵상
적절한 말을 적절한 때에 할 줄 아는 것은 큰 은사입니다. 하지만 가장 뛰어난 달변가들도 성령께서 주시는 말만큼 잘 말하지 못함을 인정할 수밖에 없을 것입니다. 그렇기는 하지만, (남의 필요에 예민하지 못한) 둔감한 말, 친절하지 못함, 적절한 기회를 놓치는 것들에 대해 변명해서는 안됩니다. 자기가 하는 말에 별 관심이 없다고 변명할 수는 없습니다. 이웃들의 필요에 영적으로 예민하게 조율하지 못했다는 것도 핑계일 뿐입니다. 적절한 때에 은혜로운 말로 다른 이들을 축복하기 위하여 성경을 미리 잘 알지 못했다는 것도 자기 기만입니다. 하나님께서 그의 말씀 속에 하신 것을 잘 귀담아 듣는 것은, 다른 이들을 축복하기 위해 우리 귀와 마음을 조율하는 과정입니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Knowing the right word at the right time is a great gift to have and a great blessing to those with whom we share that apt word. However, even the best wordsmiths among Jesus' people admit that their words are not nearly as good as those the Spirit gives them to share at just the right time. Nevertheless, we must not excuse ourselves for insensitive speech, unkindness, or harsh silences that miss opportunities to bless others. Not paying attention to what was said is no excuse. Not being spiritually in tune with others' needs is a cop-out — it's a failure of our hearts. Not knowing Scripture well enough to bless others with gracious speech at the right time is self-deception and laziness. Listening to others after having listened to God in his Word and seeing the example of Jesus should tune our hearts to hear and bless others. When we do, our well-timed, appropriate replies bring joy to both us and those with whom we share them. Yes, indeed; "how good is a timely word!"
내 기도
사랑하시는 목자시여, 사람들과 많은 시간을 오늘 함께 보낼 것입니다. 그들 중 일부는 주님을 압니다만, 대부분은 그렇지 못합니다. 제게 지혜를 주셔서 사람들을 이끌어 주님께로 오게 만드는 말을 하도록 도우시옵소서. 상처받은 이들을 위해 돕는 말, 소망을 주는 말을 주시옵소서. 겁을 먹고 의기소침해져 있는 이들에게 상냥한 말을 주시옵소서. 혼란스러워 하는 이들에게 방향을 제시해줄 수 있는 말을 주시옵소서. 아버지, 제가 오늘 하는 말이 주님의 뜻을 반영하기를, 또 이웃들을 축복하시려는 주님의 목적대로 따라가기를 기도합니다. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Loving Shepherd, I will spend much of my time today with people who need a blessing. Some of them know you, but many o f them do not. Please give me wisdom to say what leads people closer to you. Please give me apt words of help and hope for the broken, discouraged, and fainthearted. Please bless me with tender words for the hurting. Empower me with words of direction for the confused. Father, I pray that whatever words I share today reflect your will and grace. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
