In the past
God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
This is what the Lord says, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past
. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions.
For everything that was written in the past
was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."
In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
But some troublemakers said, "How can this fellow [Saul] save us?" They despised him and brought him no gifts. But Saul kept silent.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
