قریبی رُوحانی دوست—ایسی قِسم ہے جو ہماری ضرورت کے وقت ہمیں ذمہ داری سے پکڑ سکتے ہیں، جب ہم کمزور ہوں تو ہمیں بنا سکتے ہیں، اور جب ہم کامیابی کا جشن منا رہے ہوں ہمارے ساتھ خُوشی منا سکتے ہیں—حقیقی طور پر نایاب ہوتے ٰہیں۔ بہُت سے لوگ تنہا ہیں، وہ کِسی چیز کی وجہ سے تنہا ہیں، یا کسی بہتر، کوئی ابھی تک اُن کو نہیں مِلا۔ ہمارے جدید مغربی ثقافت میں ایک رجحان پایا جاتا کہ لوگ جاننے والے اور ساتھیوں کو دوستوں اور زندگی ساتھ نبانے والوں پر ترجیح دیتے ہیں۔ جب حالات خراب ہوں، جب اُن کو دینے کےلیے ہمارے پاس کُچھ نہ ہو،جاننے والے مُشکل کے وقت میں بھاگ جاتے ہیں، یا اگر حالات ٹھیک ہونے میں انتظار کرنا پڑے یا طوالت ہو تو وہ دھندلا جاتے ہیں۔ تاہم، یہاں سچے دوست بھی ہیں جو جن کے عہد اور لگن حتیٰ کہ جسمانی گھرانے سے بھی زیادہ گہری ہوتی ہے۔ میں کیسے یہ جانتا ہُوں؟ خُدا نے یہ عہد کِیا ہے! میں نے یہ دیکھا ہے! میرے گھرانے کو ایسی برکت مِلی ہے! چنانچہ آئیں دُوسروں کے لیے ویسے دوست ہونے کی بُلاہٹ کو سُنیں اور ایسا کرنے میں، اکثر ہم اپنے لیے بھی ایسا ہی دوست تلاش کر لیتے ہیں۔
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Close spiritual friends are rare — especially friends who will hold us accountable when we need it most, build us up when we're down, and celebrate with us when we've enjoyed success. Unfortunately, many people are terribly lonely in our modern world and they don't have that kind a friend. They're lonely for something, or better yet, someone they've never experienced. In modern culture, we tend to have acquaintances and social media "friends" instead of genuine friends. When things go poorly for us or when we have nothing to offer to others, our acquaintances can run away in times of trouble or fade away if our problems are ongoing. True friends do exist. Their commitment and dedication can even run deeper than our physical family. How do I know?
God promised it!
I've seen it!
My family has been blessed by it!
So let's hear the call to be that kind of friend to others; in so doing, we will often find that kind of friend for ourselves — a friend that sticks closer than a physical brother or sister.

Gracious and holy Father, thank you so much for calling me into your family. Please bless me as I seek to enter into meaningful friendships with those in your family and be a true friend to others. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
