오늘의 묵상
우리는 너무나 여러가지 일들을 쫓아가곤 합니다. 하지만 오직 한가지가 필요할 뿐입니다. 손에 돈을 가득 쥐고있거나, 거대한 토지를 소유했거나, 명망이 매우 높다 해도, 만약 주님 없이 인생의 최종 목적지에 도달한다면 가진것이 많은 것이 아닙니다. 더 나쁜것은 부지런히 일하다가 어느날 깨어나보니 그리스도께서 계시지 않고 생명도 없는 황무지에 있는 자신을 발견하는 것입니다. 영원하지 않은 것들을 쫓아가다가 우리의 삶, 영혼, 의미를 잃지는 맙시다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Advertising, easy online purchasing, and social media lead us to chase after so many worldly things. We feel like we're lacking if we don't have all this stuff, or thousands of likes, or all these friends and followers on social networks. However, only one thing is needful. Having a fist full of dollars, a post that has thousands of likes, a magnificent estate, and a lot of prestige don't mean a whole lot in life if we've gone to your eternal address without the Lord. Lying awake at night only to find ourselves in a barren place where Christ does not dwell, and life is not found, is horrifying — worse than our worst nightmare, horrifying and forever. Let's not lose our life, our soul, our meaning, to chasing after what is not lasting and can only satisfy for a moment until we achieve the next bigger and better thing.

아버지, 제가 우선순위를 바로 조정할 수 있도록, 제 삶을 거룩하게 유지하도록, 아버지의 뜻에 제 마음을 열어놓도록 해주시고 제 자신만을 추구하다가 눈이 멀어버리지 않게 해 주소서. 예수님의 귀하신 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Father, help me keep my priorities in order, my life holy, my love genuine, my heart open to your will, and my desires free from covetousness for things that don't last. I ask for the Holy Spirit's help so my own self-seeking, greed, ambition, and pride do not blind me to what is most important in my life — my walk and my relationship with Jesus. In his precious name, I pray this, as I seek to find what is truly and lasting life. Amen.
