오늘의 묵상
후안 카를로스 오르티즈가 20여년전 비판했습니다: 유럽과 아메리카 복음주의자들의 복음은, 꽤 괜찮은 대가가 주어진다며 당근(carrot)에 초점을 맞추지만, 정작 예수님의 주인되심(lordship)에는 관심이 없다는 것이었습니다. 마태복음 7장에서도 예수님이 특히 강조하시기를, 은혜가 충만하다 하여 제자도를 대신할 수는 없는 것이고, 또한 자비가 넘친다 하여 진정한 회개가 필요없는 것은 아니라는 겁니다. 우리에게 주어진 은혜를 받아들이면서 "동시에" 예수님을 우리 삶의 주인되시도록 해야 합니다. 이 두가지는 양자택일의 대상이 아닙니다. 예수님을 주인으로 섬겨 따르는 것과 은혜를 받아 누리는 것은 둘다 하나님께서 요구하시는 것입니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Over three decades ago, Juan Carlos Ortiz criticized European and American evangelists for offering a carrot stick gospel that focused on the pay off and not lordship of Jesus. Jesus, especially in Matthew 7, reminds us that grace does not dismiss discipleship, and mercy does not release us from our need to repent genuinely. We joyously accept the grace God gives to us in Jesus and truly let Jesus be Lord of our lives. It's not an either-or proposition, but a both-and call from God. We receive grace and obediently follow Jesus as Lord. We obey and serve God because he has adopted us and brought us into his family. Our motivation to do good things is not to earn our salvation but to thank and honor God who has been so good to us and saved us by his mercy and grace (Ephesians 2:8-10).

전능하신 하나님, 거룩하시며 당신의 위엄과 능력으로 두려운 분이시여, 당신의 은혜를 전혀 받을만하지 않음을 제가 잘 압니다. 제 육체는 종종 제자도의 길을 벗어나 쉽게 유혹되버릴 수 있음을 압니다. 당신께서 주시는 구원의 여정에서, 좋은 목자 예수님을 따라가고자 할때 저를 도와 주십시오. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Almighty God, holy and awesome in your majesty and might, I know that I will never be worthy of your grace. I know that my flesh can be easily lured away from the path of discipleship. So please help me as I seek to follow the Good Shepherd on your way of salvation. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
