오늘의 묵상
인체를 입고 오신 하나님 - 요한복음 1:14절의 예수님에 대한 표현이며, 하나님의 최종적인 메시지이십니다. (히브리서 1:1-3) 물론 이 불가사의한 메시지는 우리가 그 깊이를 헤아리기 힘들 정도입니다. 인간의 경험과 제한된 현실을 초월하는 것이지요. 당시에 예수님을 비판하던 자들은 예수님의 출신지역을 자신들이 알기 때문에 메시아가 될 수 없다며 도마위에 올려놓고 싶어했습니다. 하지만 그들이 틀렸습니다. (그들이 알던대로) 나사렛 출신이 아니라, (성경의 예언대로) 베들레헴 출신인지는 몰랐던 것입니다. 오히려 지금의 우리가 더 잘 압니다. 또한 그들이 더욱 틀렸던 이유는, 예수님은 근본적으로는 베들레헴 출신이 아니라 "위로부터 오신" 분이시라는 겁니다. 예수님께서 우리의 구원자, 그리스도, 주님이심을 제대로 이해하려 할때에 우리 상상력은 고갈되고 경이로움의 잔은 넘치게 됩니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
God in human flesh is how John 1:14 describes Jesus, God's ultimate message (cf. Heb. 1:1-3). Of course this is a mystery that we cannot fully fathom. It is beyond our human experience and limited reality. Jesus' critics want to easily characterize him as someone who cannot be Messiah because they think they know where he is from. They are wrong. They think he is from Nazareth and not Bethlehem. We know better. They are even more wrong, because Jesus isn't ultimately from Bethlehem; he is "from above." Jesus exhausts our imagination and overflows our cup of wonder as we seek to understand all that he is as our Savior, Christ the Lord.

오 주님, 예수님의 영광에 대한 저의 제한된 시력을 용서하십시오. 제 마음에 능력 주셔서 당신의 능력, 은혜, 희생, 승리, 사랑 안에서 경이로움과 기쁨과 은혜와 활기와 영광과 두려움을 찾을 수 있도록 해주십시오. 제 마음을 다하고 제 목소리를 다하여 아버지와 그리스도께 모든 영광과 존귀가 있기를 선포합니다. 예수님 이름으로 제가 찬양을 드립니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
O Lord, forgive me for my limited vision of Jesus' glory. Enable my heart's ability to find wonder, joy, grace, exhilaration, glory, and awe in his power, his grace, his sacrifice, his victory, and his love. To you, Father, and to the Christ, be all the glory and honor that my heart can muster and my voice can proclaim. In Jesus' name I offer you my praise! Amen.
