Pensées sur le Verset du Jour...
Après avoir capturé le cœur de la foule, Jésus appelle maintenant un autre disciple, Lévi (Matthieu). Deux choses sont importantes à propos de cette vocation. Premièrement, Jésus a appelé quelqu'un qu'aucun autre chef religieux n'aurait choisi, un percepteur d'impôts et un sympathisant romain - pour tout Juif de l'époque de Jésus, Matthieu aurait ressemblé à un traître à son héritage et à sa foi. Deuxièmement, le percepteur d'impôts a suivi, laissant derrière lui son gagne-pain et sa fortune. C'est un puissant rappel qu'il n'y a personne que nous devrions considérer comme inaccessible à l'Évangile et inutilisable par notre Seigneur.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
After capturing the hearts of the crowd, Jesus now calls another disciple, Levi (Matthew). Two things are significant about this calling. First, Jesus called someone no other religious leader would have chosen, a tax collector and Roman sympathizer — to any Jew of Jesus' era, Matthew would have seemed very much like a traitor to his heritage and to his faith. Second, the tax collector followed, leaving behind his livelihood and his fortune. This is a powerful reminder that there is no one we should write off as unreachable with the Gospel and as unusable by our Lord.

Père de toutes les nations, aidez-moi à reconnaître les personnes que vous mettez sur mon chemin aujourd'hui et qui sont prêtes à en savoir plus sur Jésus. Donnez-moi la sagesse et la conscience de savoir quand et comment parler avec eux de mon Sauveur. Au nom de Jésus. Amen.
My Prayer...
Father of all nations, help me recognize the people you place in my path today who are ready to know more about Jesus. Give me the wisdom and the awareness to know when and how to speak with them about my Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.
