오늘의 묵상
참 짧은 문장에 참으로 확실한 약속이 담겨 있습니다! 하나님은 불의하신 분이 아니십니다 — 이것은 상당히 절제된 표현입니다. 우리의 죄들을 위해 대속하시는 희생제사를 준비하셨다면, 우리가 그분을 찾을 때에 우리에게 주기를 거부하실 것이 무엇이 있겠습니까? 그분께서는 우리의 사역과 사랑을 잊지 않으실 것입니다 — 우리가 행한 선한 일들이 영원한 기록으로 남게 될 것이라는 겁니다! 우리가 그리스도 안에서 형제와 자매들을 도울 때에 우리는 그리스도를 섬기는 것입니다! 우리는 그의 백성들입니다! 그리스도 안에서 성숙해가야하는 진정한 동기부여는 여기에 있습니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
The Holy Spirit offers us great assurance in today's verse! God is not unjust. Oh, that is such an understatement: God furnished the atoning sacrifice for our sins by sending Jesus (1 John 2:1-2). When we seek after him, Jesus promised we could find him (Matthew 7:7-8; Acts 17:27). God will not forget the work and love we share with others. God has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:10-12). He chooses to keep an eternal record of the good we have done. We are his people. He claims us. He is gracious and loving, remembering the good we have done to others while forgiving and forgetting our sins. Wow! What great motivation for us to keep maturing into the likeness of Jesus Christ as we become more JESUShaped (2 Corinthians 3:18; Colossians 1:28-29).

하나님은 참으로 은혜로우시니 감사드립니다. 하나님의 위대하신 성품에 대해 이렇게 간결하고 심오한 문장으로 표현한 것을 들으니 제 기쁨을 말로 표현할 수가 없습니다. 저는 하나님의 아이인 것이 참으로 기쁩니다. 제 형제가 되시는 예수님의 이름으로 기도드립니다. 아멘.

God, you are so gracious. Thank you. Words cannot express my joy at hearing such a simple and profound statement describing your virtues:
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
I am so glad, dear Father, that I am your child. Through my gracious brother, Jesus, I thank you. Amen.
