We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the
love every one of you has for each other is increasing.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not
love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not
love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not
love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient,
love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
A new command I give you:
Love one another. As I have
loved you, so you must
love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you
love one another.
This is
love: not that we
loved God but that he
loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should
love one another.
Who shall separate us from the
love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who
loved us.
I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither present nor the future, nor powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the
love of God that is ours in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Dear friends, since God so
loved us, we also ought to
love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we
love one another, God lives in us and his
love is made complete in us.
He who covers over an offense promotes
love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.
The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "
Love your neighbor as yourself."
Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore
love is the fulfillment of the law.
There is no fear in
love. But perfect
love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in
love.
Because of his great
love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our transgressions — it is by grace you have been saved.
We
love because [God] first
loved us.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it:

For Christ's
love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
At just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own
love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to
love one another, for he who
loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.
Speaking the truth in
love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his
love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the
love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in

love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Husbands,
love your wives, just as Christ
loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy.
